Our adventure started a year ago, when the school told us about the possibility to apply, after completing our studies, for an international mobility program. We love travelling and knowing other cultures, so, this meant a great opportunity to us.  At first, we chose other destination but we finally went to Flensburg, Germany.

Flensburg is a city located in the north of Germany; it is really closed to Denmark. It is a small town near the sea, there are a lot of students and, at weekends, lots of people come from Denmark and other areas from the North of Germany, to spend the weekend walking around the beach and the port.

The adaptation was easy, because the weather and the timetables are like ours and because we were two people, which made our first days easier.

German people in general and people in Flensburg in particular, are quite serious and polite but still we can see some discrimination towards foreign people. We feel as if they do not quite like the idea of having people from the south of Europe around. It is too difficult to socialize here if you do not speak perfect German. However, in the School of Arts, teachers and classmates are really friendly with us. In the school, we are studying Carving and German. In Carving we have learnt a lot in a short time, here the level is very high. In relation to techniques, tools and facilities, they are much more advanced than us. Regarding the language, we have not learnt so much because we do not really need German to talk to people, everybody understands English here.

We cheer people to apply for this type of scholarship, as it is a good opportunity to learn and live new experiences.

Regards from Flensburg!
