Lodz is half an hour from Varsovia by train. Lodz is the Polish capital of fashion, art and design.

When I got there what drew my attention was its streets and the special features of this city which revolves around its traditional textile industry.

It is an eclectic city in which there is a mixture of grand and elegant neoclassical buildings, also modernist and neo-Gothic style buildings with Soviet block of flats and red bricks factories which date from the industrial revolution; restored facades but also the facades of derelict buildings whose state has deteriorated over the passing of time.

We can also see green areas which are the real lung of the city of the 3rd largest city in Poland.

It offers a wide range of touristic and leisure attractions. They are largely located in Manufaktura, an astonishing shopping center, which is in a building that used to be an old textile factory, and they are also situated around Pietrokowska, the longest pedestrian street in Europe.

The Strzeminski Academy of Art Lodz or Akademia Stuzk Pieknych(ASP Lodz) has just celebrated its 70th anniversary and you can find creativity and present works of art everywhere in the college.

It has interdisciplinary academic training. Here, you can study sculpture, painting media studies, fashion design, interior design, graphic design, product design, printing techniques, textile creation and so on and so forth.

The facilities available include a new building devoted to fashion design studies, a brand-new library and large spaces in which they showcase the pieces of work of both teachers and students.
